MP3 IR Remote · Last updated: September 24, 2026

MP3 IR Remote (“the app”) is developed by DevNerd (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles and why. In short: we do not ask for, store, or sell any personal information. The app is free and supported by ads, which are served by Google AdMob, and it uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count anonymous usage, as described below.

Information we collect

We do not ask for any personal information. The app has no account, no sign-up, and no server of its own. The only information that leaves your phone is the anonymous usage and ad data described in the Analytics and Advertising sections below.

Information stored on your device

The app saves a few settings locally on your phone so it works the way you left it:

  • The remote layout you used last
  • Your vibration and key-press sound preferences
  • Simple counters used to limit how often ads are shown (for example, the time the last ad was shown)

This data never leaves your device and is not shared with us. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes it.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app shows ads using Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process information such as:

  • Your device’s advertising ID
  • IP address and approximate location derived from it
  • Device and app information (model, OS version, language, app version)
  • Ad interactions (impressions and clicks) and diagnostic data

This information is collected by Google, not by us, and is handled under Google’s Privacy Policy. You can learn more at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Your choices: you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads in your phone’s settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on your device).

Usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

To learn which remote layouts people use and how ads perform, the app sends a small set of anonymous events to Google Analytics for Firebase:

  • Which remote layout was used (for example, “remote 3 used”), never which buttons you pressed or what device you control
  • When an ad was shown
  • Whether your phone has an infrared (IR) blaster

The Firebase SDK also collects standard information such as an app-instance identifier, device model, OS version, language, app version, approximate location (country or region, derived from IP address) and session information. We do not link any of this to your name or any other personal identity, and we only look at combined statistics. This data is processed by Google under Google’s Privacy Policy and kept according to Google Analytics data retention settings.

Consent for users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent using Google’s User Messaging Platform before any ads are requested. Your choice also controls how Google Analytics for Firebase may store and use analytics data. You can change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy options inside the app.

Permissions

  • Transmit infrared (TRANSMIT_IR) – sends remote-control signals through your phone’s IR blaster. No data is sent over the network.
  • Internet and network state – used to load ads and send the anonymous usage statistics described above.
  • Advertising ID (AD_ID) – used by Google AdMob as described above.

The app does not access your contacts, photos, files, microphone, camera, or precise location.

Children’s privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. We ask for no personal information, so there is no child data for us to hold.

Data security and retention

We do not keep any of your data on servers of our own. Settings stay on your device until you clear them or uninstall the app. Data collected by Google AdMob and Google Analytics for Firebase is retained according to Google’s policies.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
