Privacy Policy | Chinese TV IR Remote
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Chinese TV IR Remote app ("the app", "we", "us") collects, why, and the choices you have. The app is developed by Devnerd Team.
- The app has no account or sign-in, and we never ask for your name, phone number, contacts, photos or files.
- Remote control works fully offline. Button presses go from your phone's IR blaster straight to your TV.
- The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. It uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used. These Google services collect some device information, described below.
1. Information stored on your device
The app saves your settings (vibration, sound, light on tap and the chosen tap sound) and a few counters used to space out ads and the rating prompt. This data stays on your phone. We do not receive it. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes it.
2. Information collected by third-party services
The app uses the following Google services. They may automatically collect information from your device under their own privacy policies:
| Service | Purpose | Information it may collect |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Showing ads that keep the app free, measuring ads and preventing fraud | Advertising ID, IP address (used to estimate approximate location), device model and OS, app interactions with ads, and crash and performance data |
| Google Firebase Analytics | Understanding how the app is used so we can improve it | Firebase app instance ID, advertising ID, device model and OS, language, approximate location from IP, app opens, ad impressions, and whether your phone has an IR blaster |
| Google Play In-App Review | Letting you rate the app without leaving it | Handled entirely by Google Play. We do not see who left a review through the prompt. |
Their privacy policies:
- Google Privacy Policy
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services
- AdMob and user data
- Firebase privacy and security
3. How the information is used
- To show ads and decide how often they appear
- To measure usage, for example how many people open the app or have a phone with an IR blaster
- To find and fix problems
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use the data to identify you personally.
4. Permissions
- Transmit infrared (TRANSMIT_IR): sends remote control signals to your TV.
- Vibrate: gives the optional vibration feedback when you press a button.
- Internet and network state: added by the AdMob and Firebase libraries to load ads and send analytics. Remote control does not need the internet.
- Advertising ID (AD_ID): added by the AdMob library for ads and measurement.
- Android ad services (Topics, Attribution, Ad ID): added by the AdMob library for Android's Privacy Sandbox ad features where available.
The app does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, storage or phone calls.
5. Your choices
- Ad personalisation: on most Android phones you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- Deleting app data: uninstall the app or clear its data from Android settings.
- Requests: to ask a question or request deletion of analytics data linked to your device, email us. Include your app instance ID if you can, since we have no other way to identify you.
6. Data retention and security
Analytics data is kept by Google Firebase for a limited period (between 2 and 14 months, depending on our Google Analytics settings) and then deleted automatically. Data sent to Google services is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
7. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, personalised ads and analytics rely on your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by turning off ad personalisation on your device, clearing the app's data, or contacting us. You also have the right to access, correct or delete your data and to complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
