Anime Drawing: AR Trace App — Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy — Anime Drawing: AR Trace Manga

Privacy Policy

Anime Drawing: AR Trace Manga · Effective date: August 6, 2026 · Package: xyz.devnerd.animeardrawing
Short version: there is no account and no sign-in. You never give us a name, email, or password to use the App. Your drawings, photos, and videos stay on your device. What leaves your device is anonymous: usage counters keyed to a random device ID, crash/performance reports, ad requests, and anything you deliberately type into the Feedback form.

1. Introduction

Anime Drawing: AR Trace Manga ("the App", "we", "us") is an Android application that lets you trace reference images using your device camera or directly on your screen, browse a built-in drawing library, import your own photos, and save your finished artwork to your device. This policy explains what data the App collects, why, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.

The App is developed and operated by an independent developer. This policy applies only to the App itself — not to any third-party site you may reach through an ad, a web search result inside the App, or a link.

2. No Accounts, No Sign-In, No Public Profile

The App has no user accounts. There is no registration, no login, no Google or social sign-in, and no password. We never ask for or receive your name or email address in order for you to use the App.

The App also has none of the following, so no data of these kinds is collected or published:

  • No community or art gallery — you cannot post your artwork into the App, and no artwork from other users is shown to you.
  • No user content sharing or uploads — your drawings, photos, and videos are never uploaded to our servers. If you share a drawing, it happens through your own device's Android share sheet, directly to the app you pick (e.g. a messaging or social app), governed by that app's own privacy policy.
  • No leaderboard, ranking, scores, levels, badges, or streaks — nothing about your activity is ranked or shown to anyone else.
  • No public profile, display name, avatar, or friends.

Your in-app activity is associated only with a random, anonymous device identifier (see §3) that is not linked to your identity.

3. Data We Collect

We keep collection to the minimum needed to run the App and its free-with-ads model.

CategoryWhat it isCollected?
Name, email, password, contactsIdentity dataNo. There is no account, so none of this is ever requested or stored — except an email address you optionally type into the Feedback form (see below).
Camera feedLive video from your device camera, used to overlay a reference image while you traceProcessed on-device only. Not recorded or transmitted unless you explicitly capture a photo or record a video.
Microphone audioOnly if you enable sound while recording a drawing-session videoOptional, on-device recording only, saved locally with the video. Never uploaded by us.
Saved drawings, photos, videosCaptures and recordings you choose to save from trace sessionsStored locally on your device (gallery / MediaStore). Not uploaded by us.
Imported photosImages you pick from your gallery to traceRead on-device only for the trace overlay, including optional on-device background removal and sketch conversion. Never uploaded by us.
Anonymous device identifierA random ID generated on first launch, not tied to your name, email, or any accountYes — used to key anonymous usage counters (see §4) and to avoid double-counting the same device.
App usage countersFavorites toggled, drawings completed (camera vs. screen mode), drawing-session start/duration, search terms typed in Browse, images unlockedYes — sent to our backend (devnerd.xyz), keyed to the anonymous device ID above. No content of your drawings is sent.
Analytics, crash & performance dataAnonymous in-app events, crash stack traces, and app performance traces (Firebase)Yes — via Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring, keyed to a Firebase-generated app instance ID, plus general device model / OS version / app version. Not linked to your identity.
Feedback you submitBug reports / feature requests: title, details, category, app version, basic device info, an optional screenshot attachment, and an optional email address if you choose to enter oneOnly when you use the in-app Feedback form. The email field is optional and used only to follow up with you.
Advertising identifiersGoogle Advertising ID / SDK identifiers used by AdMobYes, via Google AdMob — see §8.
Purchase dataSubscription status (active / inactive)Handled entirely by Google Play Billing; we only receive an entitlement status, never your card details.
Drawing catalog downloadsRequests to our backend for the list of drawing categories/images and the image files themselvesStandard web requests (including your IP address, as with any internet request), cached on your device so the library works offline afterwards.
Network stateWhether you're onlineRead on-device only to show connectivity states; never transmitted.

4. How We Use Data

  • Run the App: render the camera and screen trace overlays, load and cache drawing guides, save your work locally on your device.
  • Anonymous product analytics: understand which drawing categories are popular, how often people finish a drawing, and what people search for — so we know what art to add next. These counters are tied to a random device ID, never to your identity.
  • Stability & performance: diagnose crashes and slow screens via Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring.
  • Support: if you submit feedback with your email, we use it solely to respond to that report.
  • Advertising: show banner, native, interstitial, rewarded, and app-open ads that fund free use of the App (see §8).
  • Subscriptions: unlock ad-free / premium features you've paid for, via Google Play Billing.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties for money. See §14 for what "share" means for California ad-personalization purposes.

5. Device Permissions

  • Camera — required for the core AR tracing feature. The feed is used live and not stored unless you tap capture or record.
  • Microphone — only requested if you enable audio when recording a drawing-session video. You can decline it and still record video without sound.
  • Storage (Android 9 and older only) — used to save your captured drawings and videos to your device's public gallery. On Android 10+ this is handled by scoped storage with no permission prompt.
  • Internet — required to load ads, download the drawing catalog and images, sync anonymous usage counters, and process subscriptions.
  • Network state — used to detect connectivity and show appropriate offline/online states in the UI.

You can review or revoke any permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Anime Drawing → Permissions, or in-app under Settings → Privacy & Security → App Permissions.

6. In-App Image Search (Browse)

The App includes a "Browse" feature that opens Google Image Search inside an in-app web view so you can find an extra reference image to trace. When you use it:

  • Your search terms are sent to Google as they would be in any browser, and Google's own privacy policy and cookies apply to that web session.
  • We additionally record the search term text as an anonymous popularity counter keyed to your device ID (see §3), so we know what artwork to add to the built-in library.
  • An image you save from Browse is downloaded to your device only. We do not receive it.
  • Web content shown in Browse comes from third parties and is not created, hosted, or endorsed by us. Respect the copyright of any image you trace.

7. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third parties, each governed by its own privacy policy:

  • Google AdMob (advertising) — Google Privacy Policy
  • Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring) — Firebase Privacy & Security
  • Google Play Billing (subscription payments) — handled entirely within Google Play; we never see your payment method.
  • Google Play In-App Review & In-App Update (Play Core APIs) — standard Play Services functionality, governed by Google's policy above.
  • Google Image Search — loaded in an in-app web view by the optional Browse feature (see §6).
  • Google ML Kit (subject segmentation, used for the "Remove background" option) — runs on your device; the image is not sent to Google or to us.
  • Our own backend (devnerd.xyz) — serves the drawing catalog and stores anonymous usage counters and any feedback you submit, on infrastructure we control.

The sketch/line-art filter runs fully on your device (OpenCV) — reference images are never uploaded for processing.

8. Advertising & Consent (AdMob / UMP)

The free version of the App shows ads served by Google AdMob (banner, native, interstitial, rewarded, and app-open formats). Where required by law (EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions), we present Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form before requesting any ads, so you can choose personalized or non-personalized ads, or decline, per Google's Consent Management Platform requirements. No ad SDK is initialized and no ad is requested until this consent flow resolves.

You can change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy → Privacy Options in the App (shown only if your region requires it), which reopens the consent form.

Subscribing to the ad-free/premium tier stops all ad requests and ad-related identifier use going forward.

You can also reset your device Advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization at the OS level: Android Settings → Google → Ads.

9. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases

Premium subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing. We receive only an entitlement signal (subscribed / not subscribed) used to unlock features and disable ads locally on your device. Refunds, billing history, and payment methods are managed directly through your Google Play account.

10. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Your artwork: saved drawings, photos, and videos live in your device's own gallery. Delete them anytime from your device — we never hold a copy.
  • On-device app data: settings, favorites, completion history, and the cached image catalog are cleared by Android Settings → Apps → Anime Drawing → Storage → Clear data, or by uninstalling the App.
  • Anonymous device ID and usage counters: retained on our backend until you request deletion. Because they are not tied to an account, you can request deletion by emailing us (§17) with your device's anonymous ID, shown in Settings → About.
  • Feedback submissions (including any email you provided): retained as long as needed to resolve the report, then deleted or anonymized periodically.
  • Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics data: retained per Google's Firebase retention settings; you can stop further collection by uninstalling the App.
  • To request deletion of any backend-held data tied to your device, email us at the address in §17.

11. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted transport via HTTPS, secret-gated API endpoints, no plaintext credentials, cleartext traffic blocked at the OS level) to protect data in transit to our backend. Because the App has no accounts, we hold no passwords or credentials at all, and we never store payment details — which sharply limits exposure if a breach were to occur.

12. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; the App has no account creation, no profile, and no way for users to communicate with each other. If you believe a child has provided us data (e.g., via the Feedback form), contact us and we will delete it.

13. GDPR — Rights for EU / UK / EEA Users

If you are located in the EU, UK, or EEA, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you the following rights over any personal data we hold about you:

  • Access — request a copy of data we hold tied to your device ID or feedback email.
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate data (e.g., a feedback email typo).
  • Erasure — request deletion ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restriction — ask us to limit processing in certain circumstances.
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest (e.g., product analytics).
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — for personalized ads, withdraw consent anytime via Settings → Privacy → Privacy Options in the App; this doesn't affect processing done before withdrawal.
  • Lodge a complaint — with your local Data Protection Authority.

Legal basis: consent (personalized ads, UMP), legitimate interest (anonymous product analytics, crash/performance diagnostics, feedback support), and contract performance (delivering paid subscription features).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email in §17 with your anonymous device ID (Settings → About), since we have no account to identify you by.

14. CCPA/CPRA — Rights for California Residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by CPRA), California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected, used, and disclosed.
  • Delete personal information we've collected (subject to certain exceptions).
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal data for money. Ad identifiers used by AdMob for personalized ads may qualify as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under CPRA — you can opt out via Settings → Privacy → Privacy Options in the App or your device's Ads settings.
  • Non-discrimination — we will not deny goods/services or charge different prices for exercising these rights.

To submit a request, email us at the address in §17. We will verify your request using the anonymous device ID or the feedback email associated with your data.

15. International Data Transfers

Our backend and third-party providers (Google) may process data on servers located outside your country, including the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) provided by those third parties.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
